The Ultimate Guide to Using Big Bags: Save Money, Save Effort and Stay Safe!
2026-03-27
Check the certification and labels on the big bag to confirm its safe load capacity, volume, date of manufacture and suitability for the material in question (e.g. anti-static).
Carefully inspect the bag body, lifting straps and the inlet and outlet openings for any signs of wear, scratches, holes or stains. Pay particular attention to the seams where the lifting straps meet the bag body, and check the straps’ flexibility by feeling them with your hands.
Overloading is strictly prohibited! The load should normally be kept between 90% and 95% of the rated capacity.

When operating a crane or forklift, ensure that lifting, moving and setting down are carried out gently; avoid sudden stops and rapid movements to prevent the Tonne Bags from swinging violently and colliding with obstacles. When using a forklift to move loads, the forks must pass fully through the pallet or forklift slots at the base of the tonne bag and be kept level.
